Vancouver Canucks' main training camp opens this weekend at UBC

Hockey season is here again. The Vancouver Canucks' open main camp this weekend at the University of British Columbia.

Veterans check in for physicals on Saturday (September 12) while the group hits the ice for the first time in two sessions on Sunday (September 13). The on-ice workouts are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. All sessions are open to the public free of charge.

This is a great chance not only to get an early glimpse at the Canucks, but also the brand new 7,000-seat Thunderbird Arena which will play host to a number preliminary round hockey games during February's Olympics.

The Canucks released seven players at the completion of prospects camp Friday (September 11), leaving the team with 56 players moving forward to the team's main camp.

The Canucks have not yet released a roster for September 14's pre-season opener against the New York Islanders.

So, another season for the losers is about to start. With an overpaid goalie who has won nothing in the NHL to the sisters, they will be lucky to make the palyoffs this year. They are lucky they are playing in the worse division in hockey - Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota, Calgary and Vancouver.
