Vancouver celebrity chefs teach fundraising cooking classes

Next Wednesday (May 23), the The Arts Club Theatre Company kicks off its spring round of celebrity chef cooking classes. The three-hour interactive classes each feature an acclaimed local chef and are taught in a variety of private homes around Metro Vancouver. This keeps the classes intimate and gives you the opportunity to get personal with the chefs, asking them anything and everything you ever wanted to know about cooking or restaurant life.

You don’t need to sign up for the whole series; there are seven dates to choose from through July 18, each with a different chef. For example, on May 23 it’s David Robertson of the Dirty Apron Cooking School. May 28 features Ned Bell of YEW restaurant + bar. June 19 has Jefferson Alvarez of Fraiche Restaurant at the helm, and June 26 features the Food Network’s Anthony Sedlak, who runs the American Cheesesteak Co.

Each evening features wines from a B.C. winery, such as Mission Hill Family Estate, along with dinner. Tickets cost $125 per person and include a $50 tax receipt. That’s a good value, considering the evening includes instruction, four courses, and wine pairings. As I found when I attended a class last fall, the atmosphere is like a really fun dinner party .

Classes sell out, so it’s best to book early. Call 604-687-5315 extension 248 or see artsclub.com/ for more.
