Vancouver film critics vote for Lincoln
Lincoln is the film to beat in 2012 according to the Vancouver Film Critics Circle.
Steven Spielberg’s stately epic about the last decent Republican and possible Vampire Hunter scored five nominations in the VFCC’s annual round-up, for best film, best actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), best supporting actor (Tommy Lee Jones), best screenplay (Tony Kusher), and (naturally) best director (Steven Spielberg).
The Master and Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty—still unreleased in Vancouver and sure to incite heated debate once it arrives—compete with Lincoln in the best film category. Bigelow also goes up against Spielberg and Ang Li (Life of Pi) for best director.
Notably, Sally Field’s glum turn as Abe’s missus didn’t make the cut—Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook), and Georgia Straight cover star Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone) are the VFCC’s best actress nominees, while Daniel Day-Awesome faces John Hawkes (The Sessions) and the outrageously good Joaquin Phoenix (The Master) in an infinitesimally close race for best actor.
In the Canadian film categories, it’s nice (and somewhat poetic) to see homeboy Panos Cosmatos listed for best director alongside David Cronenberg (Cosmopolis). Sarah Polley rounds out the category for Stories We Tell.
Cosmatos’s locally shot head trip Beyond the Black Rainbow was not, however, nominated for best film, while Cronenberg’s and Polley’s were.
Vancouver International Film Festival director Alan Franey will also receive this year’s Ian Caddell Award for Achievement when the VFCC convenes at the Railway Club on January 7 to announce its winners.

---This unasked for 8th?--9th? --1oth? Hollywood
Lincoln ----and STILL, in 2012, with ALLL that's unfolding
worldwide ---NO MENTION--- of Lincoln's quite possibly
------------------------------FATAL----------------------------
diss of the Global USURY bank monopoly over finance
of the war.
And so we have, once again, Spielberg delivering
on cue, 'on board' cultural incest --predictive programming
----emotive sequence programming and PC moral alibis
for capstone 'things unfolding'.
----The very timing may prove to be even creepier
than his PC ode to old China which was used to
'perception manage' things during the height of
Globalist -----RED China handover, and on the verge
of the ---------------TIENNAMEN MASSACRE-------------------.
BE AWARE!
BEWARE!
