Vancouver folk band Case Closed performs on top of the Stawamus Chief in Squamish

I was hiking the Stawamus Chief in Squamish on Saturday (April 9), when I noticed some of our fellow hikers were dragging musical instruments, including a double bass, up the steep trail.

As it turned out, a Vancouver folk band was on its way to the first peak to put on a videotaped performance on the summit.

Case Closed plans to enter the 2011 Peak Performance Project music competition, hoping for a shot at the $100,500 top prize.

My hiking party was headed for the second peak, so Patrick Spencer, Emily Millen, Stephanie Chatman, and Greg Monforton put on an impromptu show before continuing up the mountain.

Many people who have hiked the Chief will recognize the venue—the boulder by the emergency helipad alongside the trail.

Here's Case Closed playing "A Long Time" at the Chief.
