Vancouver getting its own Lingerie Football League team

Watch out, B.C. Lions. Soon, you're not going to be the only pro football game in town.

That's right. The Lingerie Football League is coming to Vancouver.

Today (September 28), the league announced the awarding of franchises to five Canadian cities—Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Quebec City, and Montreal. Toronto apparently already has a team.

The six Canadian squads are scheduled to hit the field in fall 2012 for the inaugural season of LFL Canada. The 12-week season will lead to the first-ever Canadian Lingerie Bowl, to be staged on the eve of the 2012 Grey Cup.

Currently, 12 teams, including the Orlando Fantasy and Los Angeles Temptation, play in the LFL, which was founded in 2009. The LFL describes itself as the "fastest growing women's professional sports league in the United States".

The following video will give you some idea of what to expect from this brand of football:

Finally something to bury the crummy cfl. Hopefully there'll be interviews in the dressing rooms like all other football games

yeah but in the Canadian version feminists hold a protest during every game to shut it down because the uniforms aren't slutty enough.

Oh great. Another noxious chemical abounding, so to speak. Plastic surgeons who overuse that stuff, even by request, otta loose their licenses to practice.

Can't we just start with Triple A ball again in this city?

You know, I like this. In a world where political correctness is tightening down on every aspect of our lives it's sort of refreshing to see this. The girls seem to take a pride in what they're doing and it actually looks like decent football. Are they objectifying themselves or are we the bad ones for thinking it's all about the sexual appeal? All I'm saying is, I know bacon is terrible for people, but I'd never want to deprive them of it.

If these gals wanted to be taken seriously for their football skills, lingerie would not be involved. Call it what it is: a way for men to stare at women in lingerie inflicting hits on each other. It's a twisted mix of violent sexual fantasy.

Maybe the league should re-think what the men are wearing and make them go in nothing but tight boxers? This is like Playboy Bunnies gone wild! Give me a break. I guess they have to dress this way because the only audience that will be interested in seeing females play football are men.

Sure, if women want to play football, I'm all for it but come on....do it with self-respect and dress appropriately for the sport.
