Vancouver is very excited for tonight's Slash concert at the Commodore

As early as 7:30 p.m. tonight (September 30), the line up outside the Commodore Ballroom stretched around the corner and down Smithe Street. And if every second person wasn't wearing a T-shirt with their favourite guitar hero plastered across the front, it sure as hell seemed like it.

Apparently, Vancouver really likes Velvet Revolver founding member, Guns N' Roses survivor, and the man Time magazine named the second-greatest guitar player of all time, Saul "Slash" Hudson.

In town for a tour promoting his self-titled debut as a solo artist, Slash took the time to shake hands and pose for pictures for a few lucky fans in the know.

After just having returned home from said meet and greet, this Straight staffer is happy to confirm that as reported in this week's paper, Slash is indeed a gentleman and a scholar.

He posed for photographs, signed autographs, and was so polite that it's the eighth wonder of the world how he ever put up with the likes of Axl Rose. With his trademark flowing black locks permed to perfection and sunglasses in place, even at night, the man looked damn good.

Alright, back to the Commodore now to join the other Vancouverites that are lucky enough to have tickets for what is sure to be one hell of a guitar-fueled spectacle.

Hey Travis, great write-ups on the events, and good photo out front. I'm the female standing next to the woman in the white jacket on her left...I now have that as a memento of my night with Slash...so thank you. I also was one of the lucky ones who got to meet him after the concert with photos and a signed live 2 disc cd of the concert. Great night!!!
