Variety’s Got Talent contest opens to B.C. singers in new year

Aspiring singers from across the province are invited to compete for a chance to shine on live television.

The 3^rd-annual Variety’s Got Talent singing competition is open to B.C. residents from ages 13 to 29. Audition videos will be accepted online from January 2 to 16 at the contest website, according to organizers.

Ten finalists will be selected from those submissions. Nine will be selected by music industry professionals and one by the public through an online “people’s choice” vote.

The finalists will then perform before a panel of judges and a live audience during a show at the River Rock Show Theatre on February 9. The contest winner will be announced at the end of the event.

The grand prize includes a spot performing on live television on February 16 during the 2013 Variety Show of Hearts Telethon, a charity fundraiser for children with special needs.
