Video: Constantines play for the fans at Vancouver's LiveCity Yaletown

Walking down to LiveCity Yaletown last night (February 23), I wondered what kind of crowd I'd join in greeting the Constantines.

The Ontario-based five piece has a strong name for itself on this side of the country. But we were on Day 12 of the Olympic party, and I was starting to see the night's relentless call to arms take its toll on the city's music fans.

      I shouldn't have questioned Vancouver's resilience.

The crowd at LiveCity was ready to go for the Constantines' 8 p.m. show. And the guitar rock band was more than ready for them.

Down a man with keyboardist Will Kidman out sick, the Constantines still played with heartfelt aggression. Frontman Bryan Webb barked at his mic with such bite that at times he looked like he would knock himself off his feet.

With many in the audience singing along with every chorus, it was a show the Constantines played for their fans.

Here's the show's opener, "Hotline Operator".

      And "Nighttime/Anytime (It's Alright)".
