Video: Toronto mayor Rob Ford falls off the scale

Why can't Vancouver trade its humdrum mayor, Gregor Robertson, for Toronto's Rob Ford?

It practically makes me drool thinking how much more traffic and comments this would bring to websites of Vancouver media outlets, including Straight.com.

Our relatively dull mayor never seems to call 911 when a journalist or comedian gets near him. And our paper still hasn't been banned from city-hall briefings, no matter what we write.

Of course, progressives across the city are probably vomiting at the thought of having Ford as their mayor, but that's a separate issue.

Yesterday, Ford supplied more entertainment for his foes when he fell off the scale, slightly injuring himself.

"It hurts really bad," he told reporters. "I don't know what happened but I twisted pretty good."

Rob Ford tips off the scale.

Ford and his brother, Coun. Doug Ford, are each trying to lose weight. The mayor has dropped 17 pounds since January, which still keeps him above the 300-pound threshold. He's not the biggest loser.

I'll take a reasoned and intelligent mayor over the cartoon character Toronto has any day.

Why did you put a picture of Chris Farley and Norm McDonald on this story? That's like, so 1989!

This sucks
Seriously - if you want to attack guy over his policies then go ahead, but to attack or ridicule someone - regardless of their political stripes - because of their appearance that's just gutter journalism.
Are fart jokes next, Charlie?
