Videos: Sicamous flooding forces hundreds out of their homes

About 300 people were ordered to evacuate residences on the weekend in the B.C. Interior community of Sicamous after a flash flood.

Rushing water took out two bridges on Highway 97A and swept away vehicles. Some people escaped their homes on houseboats.

The popular resort town of nearly 3,200 residents is near the Trans-Canada Highway at the Highway 97A junction of Mara Lake and the Shuswap Lake system.

Below are some YouTube videos of the flood:

Water levels rose incredibly high.

Vehicles were swept away.

Here's the scene after the water passed.

Here's how it looked on CFJC News.

We love Sicamous and have many childhood summer memories there! Hope that the worst is over and everyone will stick together and show what a true small town can accomplish together. Hang in there!
