Vikileaks teaches Vic Toews a lesson in online privacy on Twitter
First, let's watch Public Safety Minister Vic Toews pretend that he didn't make his infamous "stand with us or with the child pornographers" comment, in defence of the Conservative's government's Internet surveillance bill.
Then check out @vikileaks30, a brand-new Twitter account that is tweeting purported excerpts of affidavits from Toews's divorce case in an apparent protest against the so-called Protecting Children From Internet Predators Act, which has privacy commissioners speaking out.
If you didn't know, the former "Minister of Family Values" got divorced in 2008, after knocking up his mistress.
Some completely unverified tidbits:
"In late 2006, I discovered that the woman with whom I was having an affair was pregnant with my child." #c30

"It was devastating for me because Vic had informed me in 1993 that he had been having an affair with my sister's nanny for 7 years." #30

"Vic was anxious to remain married and to do anything he could to keep the marriage together including..."

"...agreeing to have nothing more to do with his mistress and nothing to do with the baby."

What goes around, comes around. Now Vic knows how it will feel for other Canadians if the bill passes. Now lets have a look at all the other Conservatives private lives if they want to look at ours.
If the bill passes and the government starts searching through our private communications it won't be private long. We have only to look back at Veterans who were fighting with Veteran Affairs to gain their benefits. What did the government do, they all had a look at these people's medical records, their medical records became gossip fodder. We don't need any more of that.
The bill would enable any politician/government authority to "have a look". How wonderful to be able to gather information on your opposition, your ex-spouse, people you don't like and then let all that information go public.
If you don't like Annonymous, you are going to love this new bill.

New Internet Security Bill: Protecting Children From Internet Predators and Dumbass Cheating Scumbag Husbands etc Act.
Conservative Gov stay the fuk away from my Internet privacy!
Instead legalize pot and let the Rio Theatre show movies again without having to fill out 10 forms and giving 4 weeks notice.

I pray that every aspect of your life is exposed.
It would be an interesting" experiment" to see what happens to you.
How does it feel,Vic?

What's also interesting: His mistress has worked for two Conservative MPs in the past and is currently employed by a Conservative senator (allegedly). Read into that what you will.

Morty:
Sounds like that girl likes her some Conservative (authoritarian) dick. The phrase "self-hating" springs to mind, for some reason.
But hey I'm no expert.

Is it right to fight potential abuse of privacy with actual abuse of privacy?
Just a thought.

"Is it right to fight potential abuse of privacy with actual abuse of privacy?"
This is not an "actual abuse of privacy".
The details from Toews divorce being Tweeted are public record in Manitoba, available online to anyone that bothers to look.
Or are you trying to argue that drawing attention to public records is somehow an abuse ?
