Weed wraps up Victory Square In a whirlwind of distortion

Weed were a bit slow to start into their set at the Victory Square Block Party, possibly because the troupe had just rolled back into town from a performance in Seattle the night before.

The band launched into a distortion-dialling song cycle, referencing Pinkerton-era Weezer and Dinosaur Jr. The latter was compounded by furiously fuzzed-out guitar tones and singer Will Anderson offering up a low-key though melodious mumble when not delivering voice-cracking cries.

Also, you'd be forgiven for thinking the ball of hair on bass was Cousin It's hipster cousin, but that's actually band member Hugo Noriega. The more you know...
