Werner Herzog says it took him 35 years to realize John Waters is gay

Werner Herzog, bless his heart, admits he has no gaydar. In this slightly dated clip, he explains that he can't contextualize things, and that it took him 35 years of friendship with John Waters before he realized his pal was gay.

The amazing thing is, he expressed more surprise at finding out Waters is gay than he did at being shot in the stomach by a sniper mid-interview with the BBC:
