West Van gets sneak preview of The Swell Season

Folk in West Van get a sneak preview of The Swell Season on Tuesday (January 10). The multiple award-winning documentary, playing at the Kay Meek Centre courtesy of DOXA, gets up close and very personal with Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, the couple known to the rest of the world as the Swell Season.

You might remember they fell in love on screen in the 2006 film Once, scoring an Oscar for their song “Falling Slowly” while they were at it. But subsequent touring (and living together) as the Swell Season, not to mention an 18 year age gap and the rigors of success all took their toll on the fairytale relationship, captured to reportedly heartbreaking effect by directors Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins and Carlo Mirabella-Davis.
