Who knew? McDonald’s is good for something

I’m moving house and thus suddenly extremely interested in free cardboard boxes.

When I asked my Facebook friends if anybody knew a good source, I got some great suggestions, including checking Craigslist for used boxes from others who had just moved. And somebody noted that McDonald’s fry boxes are excellent for moving.

For years I’ve lived quite close to a McDonald’s, and only went in to get coffee on particularly bleak mornings when we ran out. But when I asked the McDonald’s employee for boxes, she was more than happy to hand them over, and even pointed me to a never-ending supply behind the restaurant.

They’re big and sturdy, and now I have so many (plus hamburger boxes, juice boxes, and more) that it looks like my whole move is sponsored by McDonald’s.

Turns out there’s a Facebook group called the McDonalds Fry Box Appreciation Society

Problem is, I'm sure I'll eventually be subliminally craving French fries”¦.
