Every once in a while, vegans like to get together and hold bake sales to raise money for various causes. Between April 21 and 29, vegans around the world will join forces to put on a massive series of such events.

The fourth annual Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale has participants signed up in Australia, Croatia, India, Mexico, South Africa, the United States, and other countries. In British Columbia, bake sales are planned in Vancouver, New Westminster, and Victoria.

Vancouver’s bake sale will take place on April 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. outside 3G Vegetarian Restaurant (3424 Cambie Street). The proceeds will go to Liberation B.C. and local activists involved in the rescue of formerly caged hens.

The New Westminster event is scheduled for April 21 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Karmavore Vegan Shop (610 Columbia Street). The bake sale is a fundraiser for the Langley-based Canadian Animal Rescue and Extended Shelter.

In Victoria, a bake sale will be held on April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. at Sarah’s Place (533 Pandora Avenue). The cash will help fund the first annual Victoria Vegan Festival, planned for July 1 in Market Square.

All three B.C. events are looking for bakers. The baked goods must be vegan and, therefore, made without dairy, eggs, and honey.
