Broke
posted January 27th, 2014 at 2:01 PM
I'm almost 50, have no savings and live paycheque to paycheque. My retirement plan has always been to drop dead prior to 65 but now that it's getting close I'm not sure if that's the right plan. My income right now is just over 100k and I'm locked into long term commitments which leave me with next to nothing .

I hope you vote NDP (or for the Communists). The other parties will only make things worse.

If you make over $90,000 per year then your not allowed to complain about money issues. Your issues are with what you spend your money on. I'm 23 unemployed student (with loans) and even I have a $3,000 RRSP. I have NEVER once made more then $30,000 per year. In fact my income for the past 2 years has been 0.
You need to re-think your spending. Or tell your kids the gravy train is over. I wish my parents would tell my brother that he is bleeding them dry.

go to a financial advisor. 100K P/A and you can't save anything. You need professional help, not GS confessions help -- other than the advice I just gave -- I'm sure there's a light at the end of the [oh so trite] tunnel.

He makes 100K a year. Why does he need the NDP?

Anyone who says he earns 100k and has no extra money to put away is either a troll or needs to learn money management. Get help.
Too Quick To Judge

Why are some posters so quick to judge? There is so much more that we
do not know. Anybody who is making $100,000 per year is clearly not stupid.
The poster may indeed be trolling, but life sometimes puts you in situations you never imagined... or have any control over.

100K per/year? Don't complain.Give me half your income and I'll triple it at an undisclosed location, preferably with beaches and beautiful, congenial companions.
WHAT??

If you make over 100K a year and have nothing left then your problems are first world and trivial. Go blow yourself, out of a canon into a field of thorns.
I make 35,000 a year and live just fine.
No kidding
