I hate

Those men with no university degree, but are self taught "intellectuals". They have no concept of doubt and they seem to mix their strong belief that they are right with some form of slighty agressive emotion. Ultimately, they are not very sophisticated thinkers. Also, their apparent confidence seems to attract women.

I recently discovered there is a name for that syndrome: Dunning-Kruger effect. It's basically when people are too stupid to realize how stupid they are.
Set me free from trying to define it.

It sounds like you went to the school of indoctrination. I am not saying self taught intellectuals are better but you seem to think those with university degrees are superior. All we really have to go by in this world is personal experience.

That's arrogant and there are many guys like that. I usually find them sucking back on bong hits. And so I avoid them. Be peaceful and happy and smart. Attract that instead.

Confidence attracts women, but it won't keep them around if you can't back it up with genuine feeling and thoughtfulness. Why does it matter to you? These supposed charlatans have every right to strut around, postulating and professing. Also, most women aren't as stupid as you think they are, maybe that's why they ignore you.

Real intellectuals are willing to doubt wherever and whenever the evidence demands it. Pseudo-intellectuals can't do this because they've made their "knowledge" part of their identity. For that knowledge to be questioned is to question their identity.

Some of the brightest minds and most brilliant inventors in history were self-taught "intellectuals" and lacked university degrees. After spending many years of my life listening to professors ramble at me and assign nothing but papers but no skills for real jobs, I'm convinced that life and the public library are man's two best schools to attend. All this to say, what's it to you?

Examples of the brightest minds? You write, "What's it to you?" That can be applied to any opinion.

Smarmy intellectuals

Feb 15, 2014 at 2:14pm

Yes, all those people with useless, expensive University degrees working medial jobs are real smart. I guess they're too smart for their own good. This post is rather typical of the modern day "intellectual". In recent years we've had an explosion of smarmy career students with useless degrees thinking they're better than everyone else. Then when they see someone succeed who didn't get a degree, but worked smarter and harder by developing more appropriate life skills, they get jealous.

No, this is about the psychological attitude of a particular type of individual defined in the op.
