parental unit

I (45yo, single Mom of two -girl 15, boy 12) living in smallville, BC nearish to Van found a Habitrol patch in stuck to the inside of my washing machine this morning. No one here (only me & the kids, part time) needs this item. Am I over thinking this? I have a great relationship with both my kids and neither one is interested in anything off the grid. We have discuss it all...(I'm very open & discuss everything). Do I bring this up with them? Write off as a possible picking up litter incident (that is that kind of family we are)? Or am I clueless. Thoughts?

my kids (17 and 21) aren't up yet but i will ask them if patches are ever used recreationally....i think you should bring it up to your kids. tell them even if it's not theirs it's important for them to know that using patches when you are not addicted to nicotine is begging for heart problems. my 21 yo has told me of the few times I caught her being an idiot, amid her complete denials, she did listen to the fact based reactions i had. information is key. and hugely important for kids to know you are not blind or an ostrich.

If that's what they're choosing to experiment with you should count yourself lucky. At any rate, don't dwell on it. Step up and talk to them.

YOu must talk about it. Don't turn a blind eye. Teenagers need their parents a lot more than they think they do.
