maybe because most people that are celebrating christmas are not actually celebrating the religious part of it? and christmas is way more marketed because it's way more of a consumer culture's dream? and christmas falls in a dreary and depressing part of the year we so are all more susceptible to said marketing? and apparently I am really cynical? hehe.

not religious, obvs, but for me both are holidays where I can hang out with my family and eat good food. Christmas is just more fun because I like giving my family stuff (yes, I guess I buy into the marketing scam-altho i try to make stuff) and I like decorating trees and having parties and putting up lights and celebrating things. Christmas just has a better thing going.

Religion is a farce, and no one gives a shit about that story.

Holidays are celebrated so we can stuff our fat little entitled faces with indulgent fatty foods and continue to contribute to the ever-growing mountain of useless consumer products that get shoved down our throats and we clearly can't live without.

And xmas is the ultimate - easter... meh-not so much

Easter is incredibly important. It celebrates the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I guess the answer is that most people take the stat holidays (holy-days) without thinking too much---they "celebrate" xmas by giving presents, which is to emulate the way the Magi gave gifts to Christ. We are all one in Christ, y'know.
