I might argue that it is because older men have had the balance of power for most of recorded history, so their biologically inevitable desire for a nubile, young woman doesn't hit too close to the bull's eye for being worthy of a special interest group. You happen to fall in the category of "standard", which has been a default for a long, long time. Start your own damn group if you feel under-represented, friend.

I agree there can be that perception, but I disagree that it's universal. For most mature men and women, dating the younger set is just your thing. As for FB, start a group and see where it goes. Your first paragraph would make a nice 'About' the group. It'll probably be populated by a lot more guys at first but give it time.

well there's already a common preference for a younger female lady, and age appropriate men dumping/cheating or not being interested in their age appropriate partnes for younger women who may know less about the world and admire these older men because they think threw a patriarchy focal lens, like you, sir. so maybe it's taboo for a reason. but you know what? I think it's so generally accepted, the older man dating a younger woman, that your point is mote. that's practically up there with hetero-normative behavior. I would date an older man out of my sick daddy issues fantasies and for money. maybe because he would find me so entertaining and quirky. but generally I do not find men older than about ten years my age attractive.
