Arts degree

If one more person feels the need to tell me how useless my pending arts degree will be they can fuck right off. Perhaps there is a plan to further add to it, perhaps I have life experience to boot and am customizing it as much as possible, perhaps I would not settle for being a barista afterwards... hmmm? Stop projecting your experiences onto me!

That's irritating

I was most fulfilled when I was doing my arts degree. OK, so I'm not working in a field related to it now, but the subject I studied is still a massive part of my life and where I find my joy. Try not to listen to people's stupid comments.

There is nothing useless about learning to express yourself. Finding a job is not the only reward received from an education and people who can't understand this should mind their own business.

in general, there are a lot of negative cunts in vancouver. INstead of saying ''good for you'' or any positive feedback, you get the negative type that has to shit on you. Get your arts degree and whatever else you got lined up and move away from this negative, low paying shit job city ....run!

I totally agree. It's noone's business but yours and it's noone's right to judge but your own.

People need to STFU. Creative problem solving is highly regarded in business, and regardless who where are their manners? Even if you feel that way about someone else's choices in life, keep it to yourself. Don't be so rude and classless.

They are trying to warn you despite how good you think your experience is combined with your arts degree; that the job market is tough and art degrees are generally considered the lowest employment / pay rates . But perhaps your friends could be more tactful.

If you love arts that's great but realize that unless you are born into ridiculous wealth you live in an extremely pricey city with a tough job market and will eventually have to pay bills . I'd rather do something I enjoy and pays good so I can afford to do what I love then study what I love and get stuck in a dead end job because of it where I am no longer able to afford to do what I love .

There is a reason why magazines like Forbes & Times publish 15 worst and best college degrees . Universities need to be more real and transparent towards college students with what their degree will get them.

Don't be insulted by my words , consider it wisdom and something to think about. All the best - the odds are against you

Just because someone sets a knife down on the table, doesn't mean you have to pick it up and stab yourself in the heart with it. You don't have to be a victim.

Ah yes, because everything we learn is in order to make more money and be 'successful'. Because being ambitious is about wanting to be rich, to be the winner, and to be the best.
OP, you hopefully have had four years filled with great memories and have taken away some of that beautiful power that can't be measured nor bought...
