No it shouldn't- people crossing the road on foot won't veer into traffic and crash head on into a minivan, killing a mother and three young kids. A person driving could do that.
The reason above is why drivers/cyclists should always yield to pedestrians (yes, even when they jaywalk). Enjoy your city driving- eventually the entire downtown peninsula will be pedestrianized and off limits to non-commercial traffic.
