Drones Obsession

I confess that ever since I saw that story about the guy in his highrise apartment getting spied on by a drone one night that I have been wrestling with how you could stop the drone in its tracks from spying. Could it be taken down with Silly String? How much would you need? Lighting an aerosol can and torching it out of the skies? How about a net? Can it be done without causing it to fall out of the sky like a rock and hitting someone below or causing property damage? Nerf gun? Would it be possible to send a reverse surge of energy and zap the operator so they will never do it again? Can the drone be captured and held for ransom?

Maybe a big net? I do like your idea of holding it for ransom.
What about a paintball gun?

Corporate drones are far more dangerous- the havoc they wreak is incredible due to the power they wield and their toxic stupidity

Agreed on all. The initial thought process of how to protect our privacy gave way to the potential for immediate action instead of feeling helpless like a buncha' drones...bzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think we should develop a league of drone shooters.
People perched on their balconies with different coloured jerseys, shooting Skynet to the ground.
Might bring us all a little closer together, and would be infinitely more exciting than Canucks hockey.

Mosquito netting

Tie one corner off with length of rope to your balcony, etc. and slightly weight the other.

Cast it out over the offending "drone"; it will either tangle in the netting and you can retrieve it via the rope (keep your face hidden - it's got stablilized HD camera broadcasting back to owner).

Or, it'll just crash and the consequences will be on the drone owner.

My 2 cents worth after about 5 seconds thought.

My husband is obsessed with the drones. It would be nice to take a weekend away, a vacation, or just a day out without them for once. We will spend 5 hours in the car driving from one place to another where HE wants to go just so he can fly the darned thing. Then worse he will come home put the footage on our livingroom TV for another 2 hours. It would be nice to get one once, go to a nice restaurant look around the place in shops and such instead of sitting in the car for 4 hours doing nothing.
