Healthy Skeptic

I sometimes think there are people commenting on this forum trying to drum up work for themselves or the counselling profession in general. I see recommendations for counselling in confessions where it really does not sound necessary or relevant. To me the posts are often just expressing normal parts of the human experience. But I guess we all have our biases and blind spots, including me. Maybe I need counselling :)

found majority of 'counselors' to be control freaks, in need of serious counsel themselves. Try a long walk in the fresh air first. Or go dancing. Works for me every time. We have the skills to unwrap ourselves if we let it happen. xo

It depends

A walk outside can completely change my state and is a good place to start. Just like a physical ailment, sometimes you just need rest and sometimes you need medical attention. It depends on the severity of the case. I think the people leaving replies are just trying to be helpful and some posts do seem quite severe, possibly needing the crisis line. Judging by the long wait times to see a counselor, I doubt that they are trying to build up business. Of the three appointments I have ever had, two were really helpful, warm and caring, and one was not. If the experience is not good, look elsewhere.
