Less Money = More Problems

Earlier this year a friend took money out of his then-fiancee's purse to buy coffee and chocolate bars on two separate occasions. The couple have had debt problems for as long as I've known them, so I was quite shocked when I saw this take place. Granted, I didn't stop him, but it left me with unresolved feelings as I was actually closer friends with her and she has been stressed about money for at least a decade. I know she would be extremely mad if she found out. Should I tell her?

is the key word. Are they married now or not together?
If they still see each other, maybe tell him to fess up.

If the guy didn't say hey don't tell her, your best option is to actually try to make a casual remark or joke about it (not about their finances) but about him taking some change out of her purse. Be very delicate! So it's not like you're ratting and trying to cause a rift in their relationship; but as a friend you're doing your due diligence and make sure her eyes are wide open without you getting the blame. Mind your own business. It isn't your purse. Remember:
It's their relationship, their money, their debt issues.
If they want your help or advice they would ask you. If they haven't asked you, stay out of it - it's not up to you. It's rather easy to (mis)judge / misunderstand what you (think) you saw. Some women are okay with their man having free access to their purse.

for a coffee and a chocolate bar, so what like a couple toonies or a fiver? if that's going to make or break someone's finances then yeah tell them but its not like he took a couple hundred bucks.
