After years of miserable Christmases with more materialistic friends, I decided to spend my gift money on useable things to hand out to the homeless on Christmas Day instead. Other friends who want the same on this day donated to the gifts and we are all sharing a potluck dinner after we hand them out. I won't miss group I used to spend this day with, and am glad to recapture the real meaning of Christmas instead.
