I'm sure you're inherently a good person. Why so much latent aggression towards people who are just doing their best to be extra cautious?

that it's a proven fact that people - in cars AND on bikes, are 30% more visible to other people and vehicles when they have their lights on, and we're talking daytime here!

Perhaps the agression was a little much, but those people who are being 'extra cautious' are inadvertently blinding others.

Same as those cars with the super-bright liquid blue headlights. Great for them, lousy for everybody else.

I think we could all see better without everyone's high beams shining in our eyes, too.

I bet the number of vehicle /bike crashes has tripled since some asshole put strobes on a bike.

News flash idiots , if you flash a strobe at somebody behind the wheel they will look right at it and guess what, you tend to steer where you look.

Why do cars have a solid beam light system? If cars had strobes the street would be complete chaos.

Lights on during the day are as useful as an asshole on your elbow btw. It's like opening your door in the winter to warm up the environment.

It doesn't even have to be a strobe... any light that has more wattage than a lighthouse, of which there are many out there! We get it, we see you!! Now where's the wiffle bat!?

THANK YOU for writing this confession. WTF do people need a FLASHING headlight? DO cars have FLASHING headlights? No, they do not! I literally have to ride with my hand held up in front of me to block it, when I'm riding in the opposite direction, and while driving it's just as bad. So fucking stupid. The FLASHING option is not necessary!!!

strobe lights are very difficult in the eyes of drivers and other cyclists. I have no idea why they are allowed. but because they are lets put them on all the cars too and screw everybody. its just beyond stupid.

Interesting discussion. I use flash because I don't think bike lamps are even strong enough to provide useful steady light and frankly I was thinking it would extend battery life. But I am gonna switch to solid light. I already point my lamp at a spot about three metres ahead because I have been dazzled by overly bright lamps (including rear flashers).

Still, I prefer that to the sizeable number (majority?) of evening riders who have no lights at all. I don't want to come across their dead bodies, and I don't want to aggravate the car driving community that already thinks we are jerks. You can afford the time and cost of a couple of lights. In the dark, you're hard to spot, and with some rain on a windshield, you are invisible.

WTF is so wrong with being angry these days? There's a lot to be angry about. Someone tells you a true story, one they find it difficult to deal with, one that would piss most human beings, what do you do? You tell them how *angry* they must be, (DUH), as though it's evil or something. Sometimes, maybe most times, anger is JUSTIFIABLE. So get offa my and everyone else's back. I don't need to explain my justifiable anger to anyone. I'm not to OP, but every time I read moronic replies intended to provoke more anger and frustration, a little part of me wants to kick your ass.
