The dream?

Bought a house in Surrey. I miss my West End apartment. I could cry.

Hope it gets better. I'm glad I read this though. Maybe you just spared someone a similar outcome...

You moved away for a good reason..if so then don't beat yourself up. Or..rent it out and move on back. Either way I feel for you. I did the same once. Never again.

The commute

is the most important thing to me. I don't want to spend my life in transit. Driving in from Surrey would kill me. But if your job is out there... BONUS!

Were you renting in the West End? And now you've bought in the market? A house, no less? And there are people on here bitching about not being able to afford buying anything in Metro Van. Consider yourself lucky.

And if you want to move back to the west end, you can. You can even buy, now that you're in the market. But You'll have to store 2000 square feet of stuff and keep enough to fit into 500 square feet.

Stop whining. There are people out there that are back living with their parents at 40.

Embrace the Surrey. It's a big city.

The suburbs...

...are all a lie. And don't let anyone fool you that Surrey is a city in the truest sense. It's a bedroom community that got big and swallowed a bunch of towns. True cities have proper downtowns and don't have to manufacture a "city centre". Sorry you got duped.

You didn't mention a back story so everyone reading this just has to guess.

I lived in the WE for years and miss it to this day, although i only moved to Yaletown and the building is much nicer here. but Surrey!? Wow.
I hope you moved there because you got a job in the area. There is no amount of square feet or even owning my own place that would put me out there.
I live a 7 minute walk to work and don't drive. what more could you ask for as opposed to the 15 hours a week most people spend in their cars.
Good luck and come back, we miss you!
