DVD's

I still own a whole lotta DVD's and still buy them once in a while. I am not sure why. My friends at work say "Get Netflix" but then I think why should I? The DVD usually has trailers, behind the scenes, and commentary. Does Netflix have all this? I would just like to have the actual physical copy of the movie versus something I can download. Maybe cause I was a kid in the 1990s and we all bought CD's back then. It is old school I know but I prefer it. My CD and DVD collection is huge. That is my confession.

I too like the physical copy aspect of owning a work of art. I still buy CDs although my investment in entire albums is down. Luckily I can still rent dvds/bluray at my local video store. I'm a dinosaur and proud of it, fuck all download shit

If you're old school...

Then I'm mega-old school: I prefer to see movies in the theatres.

I grew up watching tons of flicks in theatres as a kid, teenager and young adult. I love the big screen experience and sound. And I still dig being part of the collective audience and hearing the crunching popcorn, etc. Watching movies at home is convenient, but man, it's not much of an event.

Hmmmm...

...I'm in my forties. And I wonder where you and the other Luddites get together? Do what I do. Buy digital copies on iTunes. The artists and workers get paid and you don't have to lug around hard copies for the rest of your life. Just don't be a scumbag and instead, actually pay for your content. I will await the thirds and brigands to down thumb my comment to make themselves feel better about their theft.

I like to buy an actual book and feel the touch and smell of the pages in my hand. No reading it on a screen.

You don't own digital files

You do, however, own your CDs. You can't bequest your digital library but you can your CDs, books, etc.

Suggesting we all buy shit from itunes is just silly and presumes everyone's in the same economic bracket with the same toys.

Me too;

I also still have my vinyl. Look what people are paying for an album now. Makes me laugh.
