Craycray?

Yesterday, I quit my job (on excellent terms), packed up my shit, and decided to move to Montreal. I leave in 3 days. I don't speak much French, and I don't know what I'll do for work. I'll take anything, but who knows who will hire me. Am I insane?

Did the same thing but to Japan...

Bought a ticket, saved 6 grand in the bank, didn't know any Japanese, booked a hotel for a week and went from there.

Experience of a lifetime. I would do it again in a second except I am momentarily unable as I am finishing up school.

God speed. You are going to have a fantastic experience and Journey.

You are off your rocker. Think the Vancouver job market is bad? It is 10 times worse as an Anglophone trying to get hired in Montreal. Bon voyage!

Why not? It'll be an adventure.
Maybe don't say "craycray" ever again though.

How did you part on excellent terms if you didn't give 2 weeks notice? That's disrespectful to your former employer.

A friend of mine did that, but with his Francophone wife. They moved back within 18 months because he had a tough time, not with finding work but with the culture and language. You are brave to try it though - you'll never know until you've done it. Hopefully your experience will be better than my friend's! Good luck!

I'm kind of sick of Vancouver and I've only been here three years.

also, I hope you're bringing at least $10,000.00 with you. It takes time to find work, esp if you don't speak any francais. Apartments used to be very affordable compared to anywhere outside of Quebec, but I'm talking about 30 or 40 years ago. I'm not sure what rates in different neighbourhoods are like now, but everything costs more. Good luck to you. "Calice, il fait frais!" Will come in handy this time of year. (Hope you like Longueuil).
