Douche

When my so called best friend tells me how they are deactivating Facebook to focus on school work; saying how they are switching back to good old fashioned e-mailing, since they are not phone savvy...Well, almost one year has passed with my e-mails never replied to. Should I assume you want to drop our friendship?

They are too lame to be honest with you. Aren't you worth more than that? Find better friends. This one isn't decent enough to keep.

Happened to me

"Best " friend had no time to return my phone calls, I tried calling her every month for a year before I realized that obviously she didn't want to talk to me. Then we see each other at social events & she acts all sad that we never get together.
What a flake!
Took me a while to get over losing a long time (20+) year friend but I don't want to be friends with someone who doesn't seem to care about me/ have any time for me.
Sucks but it happens. Cut the cord & move on, the sooner the better.

People change (as do all things).

Sometimes, they do not change together and (somewhat) in harmony, but separately and dissonantly. This usually kills marriages and romantic relationships.

What happens to a friendship is like what you just described. It just fades away...

Part of life

There are friends I've had for 20+ years and longer who are no longer my friends. It's miraculous that we stayed friends as long as we did. Things changed so much, or maybe stayed the same so much that I had to end the friendship, or they did. Sometimes people don't want to change, they refuse to grow up and out of their ingrained patterns. Things they used to cry to me about, they refused to drop; like their disastrous relationships with men. Fine, they can hang onto their neurotic patterns with them, I no longer have to hear them whine and for some sick reason, hang onto those patterns. You can only listen to the same pathetic, self indulgent self pity for so long.

Fickle friends

are not worth having I decided. Real friends should go through the trouble of understanding what you meant to say and where your heart is rather than judging you by what you actually say. Because we all say something we want to take back for one reason or another like to be provocative, smart etc. and think to ourselves privately "did I actually say that?"
