Too Much

My boyfriend has a three year old son from a previous marriage and I think he spends too much time with him and not enough time with me.

A three-year-old needs his daddy's time and attention more than you need your boyfriend's time and attention. So suck it up, princess.

I have a hard time believing this is a real confession. I hope no one is this stupid or selfish.

3 yr olds go to bed at 7 pm. You should have lots of evening time together. A good dad makes his child a priority.

Give her a break

It's totally inappropriate for people to judge this woman so harshly. She's confessing it, not saying it's a feeling she's proud of.

I was in a similar situation years ago dating a women with a kid. And had the same feeling. Until you've done it, you don't know what it means to date someone with a kid. Yes, of course, the kid comes first.

In my case I realized it was not for me. Maybe the OP will come to same conclusion.

Too stupid to be real

This can't be a real confession.

What woman on earth would want a dad to spend less time with his kid and more time with her? No one could be this dumb

I think it's a perfectly reasonable confession. It's one of the reasons I won't date a guy with kids (and I'm no princess) because I know I will never, ever come first. Nothing wrong with that. I don't even want my own kids, so why would I want someone else's?

Then why is the OP dating someone with a kid? She willingly chose to be in a relationship with a guy who has a 3 year old. I'd never date someone who already has kids because I'd never want to be the person who is telling someone they can't spend time with their own child, or that they have to pick me over them. Plus, I know myself enough to realize I'm certainly not ready to be a mother to somebody else's children. If she has this big of a problem with it, why is she in the relationship to begin with? She made this decision herself - it's up to her to accept the consequences and work around them or find a more suitable relationship.

That's the type of guy you would want to be with, he has his priorities straight. The majority of dad's don't spend enough time with their kids. Seems you picked a good one, it's now a matter of whether or not you realize it. Imagine the opposite...the guy you date chooses to spend less and less time with his kids in order to be with you. What kind of dad and more importantly, what kind of being, is that?
