Idiots Are Taking Over

I don't like most people. I have been known to dismiss anyone who: doesn't know how to walk on a busy sidewalk or refuses to let go of someone to make space on said sidewalk, drive/cycle through stop signs, are lazy, arrogant, a lush, too sensitive, messy, rude to servers, etc. It's no wonder I am single, but I refuse to settle. There are just too many stupid people out there.

You'll turn into a curmudgeon if you keep going like that.

I prefer to laugh at such things, because it is darkly funny.

Our species is THE apex predator on this planet (almost entirely due to our advanced cognitive abilities), but there are far too many people about, that seem to function at the same level of intelligence as the pavement in the sidewalk.

Yeeeeaaaah! You tell 'em bro or sis!
I can't call them stupid, but rather the use of 'oblivious morons' is more right down my alley.
I'm a deeply flawed mo-fo but damn so many people are just so obvious about it

I agree with geeknomad

that our response to oblivious people is key. It is easy to simply snap to the "people are stupid" conclusion, but how does that make things better for ourselves or others? It puts us in a repetitive cognitive rut. As geeknomad suggests, we could find humour in the situation, or we could challenge ourselves to think of ways (through words, signs, actions, motions, performance art, or whatever) to break people of these "stupid" patterns. If you perceive yourself as intelligent and aware, perhaps you could lead a herd of sheep to your desired outcome.

I hear ya OP!!!

Hey, let's go shopping and leave our carts right in the middle of the aisle while we stare off into space looking at the shelves!

Whenever that happens I "accidentally" bang my cart into the obstructing one as I'm trying to get past.... the response is always a sheepish "Oops, I'm sorry..."

No you're not, you're too stupid to be sorry!

I agreed with you 100% about sidewalk stupidity, I can't even count the number of people I've clotheslined, checked, or knocked right off their feet because they wouldn't make room. What else am I supposed to do, jump out onto the street? I wish I had an electric cattle prodder, then I wouldn't have to get dirty.

Why so hostile?

You don't have any clue what kind of day these people are having. Maybe they are pre-occupied with a heavy emotional situation in their lives? Maybe they aren't feeling well? Perhaps they are exhausted from looking after young children.
I think the mean people who have commented here need to re-evaluate why they think the world needs to be perfectly organized for their own convenience.
I'm sure we've ALL had our carts in someone's way at the Grocery store at one point in our lives. sheesh you perfect people are perfectly MEAN and no wonder the OP is single.

The OP

No no, I mean the people who are obviously ignorant to everything around them. The people who stop in doorways or small corridors to have a conversation, the people you watch spit their gum on the sidewalk, or my personal favorite is those who trim their nails or pick at their feet on public transit. I'm sure these folks have all had horrible, emotional ridden days, but there isn't a need to put it on everyone else. And by the way, there are more people running reds and stop signs, than could possibly have an emergency, making it a legit move.

These Confessions, are usually things that most people would keep to themselves. Call me mean on here, sure. We may actually know each other and you would never know, because I'm not vocal about these thoughts. It's one thing to disagree with someone's actions, and another to be a dick about them. I don't despise everyone. I know many wonderful folks. I actually get told on a regular basis how much of a people person I am. I find that funny, as I smile and say thank you.

A lot of aggressive, self-righteous people commenting on this post.
I'm nothing like the things OP mention in your post but I don't go bitter and angry on everyone for every possible reason. I suppose you are Mr. or Ms. Perfect? Live and let live!
