Being invisible

I love being invisible, middle aged, nothing special to look at and blending in with all the other people who have normal lives, doing normal things, getting by walking through the city where everyone seems to think that they as so special. I feel like going up to them and saying, nope you are not all that...just one of thousands like everyone else.

that some people are enjoying their lives and feeling good about themselves? If you love your situation so much, why do you sound so bitter?

I was thinking something similar just the other day, I could've swore I was invisible! At least I'm not the only one, I think I'll adopt your attitude toward it. Thanks.

The older I get

I find the more invisible I become. No one really takes notice of an ordinary, middle aged woman. I used to get lots of looks when I was younger. This does create some feeling of freedom though, now I just wear whatever's comfortable.

All us children of baby boomers were raised to think we were special, which creates an obvious paradox. We're told to follow our dreams no matter how stupid they might be (the ones who succeed at these endeavors are either legitimately special or the recipients of good fortune), and are told not to accept anything less than the exact direction we want our lives to go. This has resulted in a continuum of people who are completely self-absorbed on one end or totally depressed on the other, with a small midpoint of miraculously well-adjusted people in between. For a great look at this try reading most of these confessions!
