Left Vancouver a year ago.

Happy to come to Vancouver to visit my family, but sure glad I left. Now I have a full time job, a girlfriend, and a decent apartment (these areas were a complete struggle for me). If you are having difficulties over a significant period of time in any of those areas, do not be afraid to leave. Vancouver, although beautiful, can be very demoralizing for some people.

Same here! 3 years away and loving it. But I miss the forests and mist, coyotes and eagles, and sometimes (very sometimes) the people.

I'm already packed, The one date in a decade and fighting tooth and nail for entry level jobs, apartments etc that I'm overqualified for did it for me. Good riddance to the most F'ed up place I have ever lived in.

Did you ever think that the change of locale makes you try harder because subconsciously you think that you have to in order to make the move work?
Yup

Agree with everything you said! Congrats on a better life.

I have a full-time job, I'm married, and we own our home. In Vancouver. These things are not impossible to achieve here. But if you're happy where you ended up, that's great.

The 5% that enjoy life here always chimes in but for the 95% that can't afford air, we are simply done with the most un Canadian city and the attitudes that come with it.
