Period time

When I have my period I find it soooo hard to deal with life & family obligations. I just want to go live alone for a four days. I can't deal with everyone's questions & drama. Posting this as a mom of two with a husband who sometimes just can't cope with everyone else's shit. Thanks for listening.

You are so lucky to only have it for 4 days! Try a full 8-10 plus 5 prior of PMS... Half the month I'm either bleeding or an over emotional mess.

And I frankly don't know how you ladies put up with that shit. You all deserve Purple Hearts.

the idea that ALL women go thru PMS and period pain

is bullshit created by a patriarchal capitalistic society that wants to feel better about being men.

Yes, there are women who really suffer those things, but I suspect there are a number of women who suffer them psychosomatically because they just believe because they're women, they have to go through that.

I never get pms, and sometimes I might get a little bit of cramps just before it starts which is sort of useful, but otherwise you'd never know I was on the rag because I'm still my usual happy self.

I'd rather bleed for a few days a month than be a slave to testosterone 24/7.

My ex was a psycho for a week a month and the worst thing about that was that she wouldn't own it. She would rant and make up ridiculous shit that she would continue with and make me answer for the other three weeks. And she used to yell at me because of the way I acted IN HER DREAMS.

I hear ya. I have hideous cramps right now, and all I want to do is take off my pants- and not in a sexy way. And I want birthday cake. No it's not my birthday.

I guess I'm lucky

Once in a while I get mild cramps, but I've never had mood swings or any other hormone-related issues. I have empathy for girls who do, but I just can't relate. I even enjoy the rhythm of the cycles, and I know I'll miss it when it comes to an end.

I'm the OP

I think it might be related to age...I'm 46 & my periods have definitely gotten harder to deal with in the last 10 years or so.
To the poster who thinks it is "psychosomatic" ...well you're completely wrong! That is like saying world hunger isn't real because YOU just ate a sandwich & you're not hungry so obviously everything is fine. (not original to me- I read that analogy somewhere)

To those who also are dealing with our feminine realities- a hot tea of cheers to you all

correction to the OP

I didn't say **ALL** women are experiencing it psychosomatically!!!!

I said that there are obviously some who REALLY suffer through it, BUT there are lots of others who go through it because they believe they are suppose to because they have been told they will because they are females - "all women go through pms and period pain".
