Straight out

So I went to man up last weekend, I was SO excited and nervous cause it was my first night "out", if you can catch my drift. I was expecting to meet some women, flirt for real, maybe make a friend or two. What I learned from the night is that people thought I was straight. This is something that I have been struggling with for a while. I dressed like myself, acted like myself. what makes someone gay? How do you pin point that.. Some help?

maybe join an event which is a specific kind of meet up. I find that easier because everyone knows. or there is online dating too which allows you to make a profile.

I have found the Vancouver lesbian/queer scene a hard one to connect with especially when it comes to nights out to events like man up. Sometimes I find it way too cliquey or maybe it seems that way when youre doing it on your own. Best of luck.

You have to realize that today being a homosexual is like being a goth or a punk or a greaser or whatever else they sell magazines about. It's an image, one that has been constructed for the sake of allowing people to retain neurological inflexibility, which is how most adertising-based developments work: you tell the person that they are something that requires your product or service, and that they cannot get it elsewhere. Same deal with homosexuality.

You're gay, but you don't know what makes you gay?

They mystique of being gay is gone now. There use to be a time when being gay was like, real news. When Elton John, back in his 'Caribou' days, when news started leaking out about his preference back then, it made him a point of interest. Now, being gay is like saying 'I work for McDonalds'.

Maybe it is more a case of not being confident in your sexuality; confidence is a big turn-on for most people, so just let'er rip! It's not like you're gonna get pregnant!

It's not how you look

You just don't have any game. Dressing down and acting normal at a dance party is a bad strategy. Try a different approach.

Get yourself an undercut and a pair of Blundtstones.
