bus drivers

I never talk to bus drivers because their job is to stay focused on the road and ensure safety, not befriend passengers. I honestly don't care about them being impolite as long as they get me to my destination point.

most people are capable of both doing their job AND being polite. It's really not an either/or situation, is it?

The bus passengers who irritate me are the ones who stand by the bus driver and talk to them nonstop.I think they might distract the driver and cause a crash.

Has anyone ever complained to Translink's customer relations department about bad bus drivers? If yes, has it worked?

Anyone:

Yes and no.

Always make a note of the time, location, route number, and bus number (on the inside, up high to the right of the driver near front door; also on the back of the bus outside). If the incident is serious, try to get contact info from one or two fellow passengers in case you need back-up if the in-bus cameras "fail".

Leave it to the morons to try to and steer anything transit related into some translink hate thread. Now on topic, the driver should be left alone to focus on driving and not entertaining riders or planning their routes for them because they didn't look it up themselves.

Actually, this is not the case. A professional driver is expected to be able to both drive and answer questions about the route, etc. And a professional driver is also capable of saying to anyone being overly distracting that he is being overly distracting.

I don't ride the bus...

Any longer. I think the last time I rode on a bus was in high school. I often wonder why people ride the bus and use it as often as they do.

because some people who can afford almost any car, myself included, prefer to have less things to own because one becomes slave to their property. Moreover have concluded the financial gain outweigh the hassles.

Although I agree...

I must say, having a rude bus driver first thing in the morning can kid of put a damper in my mood. Some bus drivers are ridiculously rude, I like to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they're just having a crummy day but I've seen one too many jerk drivers for no apparent reasons. I witnessed a bus driver drive off while an elder was still exiting the bus after belittling her for being "slow." Like really man?! Unnecessary.
