Catholic Hell part 2

My husband complained about the hell the chuch put us through. I thouht confession was good for the soul and hopefully this will be. I went back to THE CHURCH after a long time being away. The call from the Pope prompting lapsed Catholics back into the fold was my impetus. Wow what a wake up...Call that was. They wanted me to feel guilty for my 29 year marriage to my husband sighting he was a mere Penticostal and having been married civally aspoused we were married by Mulroney (the then Leader of the Country), and not God. They told me i was not to have relations with him until or marriage could be recognized by them. This put a stress on our marriage and initially was the beginning of our eventual break up. After that the churches Priest ridiculed and scorned me the last day i was in RCIA? That being RITE OF CATHOLIC INITIATION FOR ADULTS. That course lasted eight months and we completed it . We were trying to get married in the church and I was trying to complete my Sacrament of Confirmation hich I had not completed as a child. Then they insisted on us completing expensive paper work and then that had to be eccepted by the marriage tribunal. To make a long story even longer. They did not graduate me. They did not marry us. They judged me and said I was not "right". If you enjoy public humiliation and rejection please by all means go back to church. The other coordinator of RCIA was an ex Tarot card reader. Something i never even was curious about. She asked me with a smile on her face if we were coming back next term citing there was another couple who went three years before theygot married. By that time our marriage was crumbling. Our self asteem and patience were gone. We split and went our serate ways. We are now trying to reconnect. Please can you all wish us Luck and Happiness as Prayer seems out of the question.

But.......oh my god.....I can't believe you let the 'church' cost you your marriage!!! Sorry.....but I have trouble wishing you any luck at all. Church is nothing more than an expensive fraternity club. Some of us have no one, and you let yours slip away....make it work.

How happy you would be if you just lived your life without religion.

Just lived! You would work, love the people around you, be a good person, have fun, treat others with respect.

I've never been religious but i also have never seen or heard one positive thing coming from it. OH wait besides when good things happen to people and they thinks it's because of god not because of some action they took or just blind luck.
I hope life works out for you.

depends on the parish

I know there are some parishes that are more forgiving than others. Some of the front line workers (priests) know that the Vatican isn't always in touch and will marry you anyway. Good luck with your lives, maybe try the Unitarians, United church?

The Pope is anti-christ, not "the church", which is the body of Christ.
If you're an illiterate peasant you can be forgiven for falling in with such a cult, but you seem to be able to read and write, so I think it might be your fault.

The Roman Catholic Church is just a military cult that fleeces poor people.

Hey! Don't listen to the rest of these anti-religion nutcases responding negatively. Religion is a personal choice, and if you choose to be involved with a church, that can be a good thing.
But a church community is only as good as the people who are in it. If you are a good person, your church members should recognize that, regardless of your denomination. If they are tearing you apart from your loved ones, they are poison.
I wish you luck in putting your lives back together and finding a new community (church or otherwise) that is less judgmental and hung-up on things that don't matter.

No troll

This is my wife, and she's no troll!! It happened. She prayed the rosary every day, and wanted to get our marriage recognised by the church. I wanted to convert and was denied that as well. It was humiliating to see all the others welcomed as Catholics while I was stuck off to the side, literally kept out of the picture. I won't consider going through it again, much less attend RCIA for 3 years or more and waste what little money I have on the marriage tribunal. I'd rather concentrate on reconciliation and eventual reunification without the Catholic church's involvement. I believe in God I just don't believe in the Catholic church having a place in my life any more.
