I have always wanted

To do one of two things when I see people protesting abortion. 1. Go up to them and ask if they are willing to adopt a baby with either fetal alcohol syndrome, crack addition, or any number of birth issues that can result. Since these people are so concerned about the life of the child in the womb it would stand to reason they would be just as concerned when it comes out. OR 2. Drop a box full of coat hangers beside them with the sign "Free Abortions", because at one time abortion was illegal and the coat hanger was a reality.

The Government could easily create an industry out of caring for those FAS babies in public orphanages---but for some reason we prefer to spend money on military equipment and other welfare projects. You know, who am I to judge? But I think we have plenty of public money to take care of disabled children, rather than killing them in utero.

I mean, I think it is probably marginally better for women to have access to abortion than not, but I don't think women should be coerced into abortion because they don't have the skills to raise their child---the state has a parental jurisdiction and responsibility if a parent is incapacitated.

Basically care for disabled children from cradle to grave is the proper responsibility of our hospital system, which is underfunded terribly. I know that women having abortions is cheaper, but it doesn't seem to respect the dignity of life. Now, if a woman doesn't want to carry a fetus to term, that is another issue, and maybe we should respect her autonomy. But if she would carry it but for socioeconomic reasons and has an abortion on that basis, I can't say i think that is very good.

...insist a protester donate blood/marrow/a kidney. If the person feels close enough to dictate what happens to my body, I feel like I am mutually entitled to decisions about his or her body as well. But I'm not a monster. They can choose what they donate. Because I believe in choice.
