If it weren't for...

Why can't adults be like little kids? Pre-school children know how to fight, forget, and make up seamlessly. When we get older, it takes next-to-nothing to shatter everything into pieces and make two once beautiful friends two foreign strangers. If it weren't for dark chocolate, rounds of tea, the odd nip of arak or gin, felines, books, geeky TV programs, old crackly music, my travels, my career (aka. life blood), and my scant social life, the life I now have without my joined-at-the-hip confidant ain't palatable in terms of a loss of soulmateship. I can smile all I want but, inside, the loss is stunningly hard to handle.

The loss of a good friend has always hurt me more than the loss of a love interest. When those are combined, it's at it's worst. Sometimes your homie is just going through something and you can just try to be there for them.

I recently (24 hours ago) found out it's a really good idea to talk to your friends you might have disconnected with about where you're at. Like if you need something from them, let them know why it's important to you. That way your on the same page. You'll also get where you're coming from better.

I'm sorry you and your friend/soulmate aren't on great terms right now. When you think you're ready to connect again, I suggest you two watch Zoolander together. That movie has the greatest sorting-things-out-between-two-people-that-should-be-friends scene I've seen in years. It's comically simple; like childish friendship, as you mentioned.

Cheers, good luck :-)

Whether you're male, female, or somewhere in between, you're first and foremost a human being and you have worth. You have to hit at the root of the problem and deal with it in the face, reach out for help rather than let yourself be a used piece of meat.

your interests are exciting! i hope someone else comes along to replace your irreplaceable though, so you don't have to keep writing these forever in clever new ways. i'm in the same boat though. :(

I want the one I can't replace :( Nothing can compare to how incredible she is. I want her and I want my life. I shouldn't have to choose.

i understand. a thought came to me that it would be sickeningly hilarious if everyone here is pining for the same person leaving a wake of pining confessors behind. also, and i'm basing this on your other confessions, but sometimes when one person is indifferent, the other person feels inversely stronger desire. i don't know a solution, time just dulls, but moravia's boredom might be an interesting read for you.
