Delighted and Disgusted by BC Transit

I had the pleasure of experiencing two trips on our downtown Vancouver bus service today. 1) Heading north from Granville to downtown: the bus was absolutely packed. The driver still took on additional passengers, when he would have been justified not to. He had a good-natured, friendly demeanor and politely asked riders to make more space. He allowed passengers to stand in front of the 'safety line', and made announcements such as 'hold on', 'brace yourselves' .No-one was turned away. He made conversation with the people who were basically sitting in his lap. To you, sir - I take my hat off. 2) Heading south on my return journey, I was able to find a seat close to the front. I was immediately aware of an extremely aggressive and intoxicated individual, who produced additional liquor (obviously not visible to the driver when boarding), and consumed it. He then had a concerning verbal altercation with another individual (who - admittedly was not being particularly well behaved - berating a teenager for 'having his pants hanging down his ass'). This individual then departed the bus with a flood of profanity directed towards the driver, and uttered statements that could be considered threats and verbal assaults. The driver continued on his way, and provided service to the remaining passenger. To you, sir - I take my hat off.
