'If I had a million dollars'

The other day I was on the bus. I was feeling happy and wondered , since the driver had mentioned being a driver for 20 years, that if she ever got a tip. I thought since she worked with the public she might /should have been given one. So I asked her if she ever in 20years had received 100 dollars or any tip. She smiled and said , "No, mostly what I get are angry combative riders." She then gestured to another rider to the left of me and added, "Just ask him he is a regular rider." He more than happily confirmed her words. Riding the bus myself, I began to remember the times I had seen disgruntled riders. So I am putting this out to the world.I confess that if I ever come into a million dollars: I would spend a week during a holiday handing out 100 dollar bills to the great selfless public sevants we over look tipping. They are our "friendly neighborhood bus drivers".

Wow. I'm sure these people aren't working because they are getting paid: it's all voluntary work! Seriously, if dealing with angry riders is the worst they've got, there are far worse jobs out there. Tipping all the public servants? As if my tax money and bus fares aren't already going to pay their salaries.

What about the homeless and poor people in third world countries? If I've got a million dollars, I'd rather give it away to people who most need it, not those who already enjoy a comfortable salary for a relatively pleasant job. What a poor sense of priorities! You can give away all the money you want, you won't convince others to waste away their hard earned money.

I hate bus drivers. They feel they own the road and are idiots. There's the odd one that is nice, but that is so rare. And they get paid good enough for no secondary education...

.....instead of giving money to public sector employees who get paid a handsome wage and have a full benefits package and free transportation, why not give it to someone who works a low-wage job where they are on their feet all day and have no benefits whatsoever? Like maybe construction workers, landscapers, or even nurses/care aides? At least bus drivers don't have to touch their riders or change their diapers and colostomy bags.

No? Oh, you are a bus driver after all.......

I think it is illegal to tip bus drivers i dont think they can accept tips. you can't just go around tipping everyone. maybe you could give them a sandwich or sumthing.
