Viligante Justice

If the person who sucker puched that poor man on Granville street Is free, for real, then it looks like this society does not have a 'justice' system.

No society really does.

"Justice" is both situational and individual - one person's justice is another's tyranny. Most societies have codes of law; each one is a series of unhappy compromises, a status quo that most do not hate enough to change. Consider how those codes have treated homosexuality and prostitution over the last 50 years, though those two things have not really changed in thousands of years, while demonstrably failing to destroy civilization.

The fact that public drunkenness and violent stupidity often go together is nowhere in dispute. Yet I can legally possess an absolutely full liquor cabinet, but if all the booze were replaced with cannabis, or just a handful of MDMA pills, I would be going to jail for a while.

Maybe this will catalyze change, but don't bet on the new laws making sense any more than the old. Billions of profits in them there bottles.

Can't blame them for him not being in custody.

Someone who witnessed it has to turn the bastard in so the police can arrest him and the Crown can prosecute him and a judge / jury can convict him.

Blame his friends that know who he is, and what he's done, and have said nothing, even anonymously.
