A House

I don't know how much my parents paid for our first house, a small home in Sask. I do know it was $35000 for the second, a 4 lvl split in a middle class area in Calgary in 1970. The other night the news was discussing the prices of homes in various areas on the coast. Over a Million $ for a detached home in Van and well over $600000 in Victoria. Way out of the price range of the majority of Canadians. So much that over 50% of people in Van rent. I will never be able to afford buying anywhere there. Here in Nanaimo the cost is much lower but there are a lot of rats here. I think I've seen rats near 5-6 homes on this block alone. I saw a couple around areas of Van but not like here. I like small furry animals like squirrels and hamsters but I don't like rats. The one I've occasionally seen scampering around the front yard looks cute but its still a rat.

There are rats all over the west coast. Byproduct of the shipping industry. I found a dead one on my patio over the weekend. Gross.

Compare us to the prairies. I've lived there for 8 years cause of my bloody Ex and i was depressed beyond belief. It's boring, flat, Extremely COLD! (-40 shit) no thanks, food sucks and is so bland. Vancouver is hands down the best City, but yes the prices suck. If you make good money you'll be fine here. But please, you cannot compare us to the prairies. They don't have mountains, oceans and amazing food compared to us. Their sushi and other food is terrible.. Go there for yourself and then you'll be praying to god that you're back in BC.

There are rats

in Vancouver, even in the upscale neighborhoods like Shaughnessy. It's the climate. Sask. has less rats, more blizzards though.
I agree the prices are ridiculous here. Whose salary has doubled in a few years?

Your confession was amusing. Your first topic was how expensive it was to live on the west coast. I liked that. Then you veered off coarse for a second topic about rats? What the hell man? Stay on topic dude. Unless the rats were supposed to be represented by realtors and the rising house prices. I don't know. Nothing personal it was just amusing to go from one topic to another is all.
