I hate it when people call this city Vangcouver. Stop being lazy and pronounce the name properly. I don't pronounce your personal name any different than how you want it so why do you add a G to Vancouver?
One more thing, you can keep your RUN DMC style VAN CITY shirts in your closet or burn them.

It's an accent that people have that are born here. We also say melk and liberry. There is a book on it even. That's how you can tell someone is from Torannaa. A true Maritimer has an accent you can barely understand. And the Manitoba accent! I love it. Have you not noticed all the different Canadian accents when you travel this awesome country?

And the way you pronounce is correct because.....?
Oh my god do you ever have it wrong.
Look up how to pronounce "vanquish". Or say "bank" or "cranky". You don't say CRAN -- kee, you say CRANG - kee.
You haven't identified a "mistake" -- this is the 'correct' way to blend the letter N with a hard "k" sound. (I'm sure there's a correct phonological term for this, but I have a feeling it would be a waste to look it up.:)
The vast majority of people born and raised here going way back pronounce it this way (Vang-couver) and majority rules. It's not a NEW thing, it's an old thing.
You used to be able to tell someone was from back east or at least not from here by the pronunciation of it as: van -- COUver.
omg

Vangcouver is the correct pronunciation, some things you simply can't learn except by growing up in a place. It's too bad we don't all speak Chinook anymore, why doesn't the VSB teach the students the trade language of this region?
Not the OP

and born and raised here and I never pronounce it with a g.
Sometimes I say Vancougar and often I say Vansterdam. ;)
HEY YOU!

Yeah I am talking to you OP. If you don't like the way people talk or what they wear you can move the hell out of here. One less idiot as far as I am concerned. And by the way RUN DMC is a great fucking 80s band. I noticed you did not tell us who you like musically so we do not have the opportunity to say your music sucks but I bet in reality it does. Cheers have fun moving to Alberta!
