Too smart for me
posted February 8th, 2016 at 2:41 PM
I broke off a relationship with a woman because she frightened me. She was incredibly intelligent, multilingual, and from a far better academic background than myself. I felt like a boy toy, which is strange because typically women like me for my intelligence. I worried she would get bored of me the way I get bored of the other women I date.

You only want someone when you THINK you don't actually deserve them?

I'm sure you did what's right for you... but what a crying shame.
My sympathies to the lady. She clearly deserves that and much more.
Would actually send her flowers if I could (no reciprocity expected, just SO worth doing). Too sad.
right

i once had a guy tell me he would never be attracted to someone like me, because i was too smart.
then later on he kissed me.
great kiss, but i'll never date someone with insecurities like that at their core.
You should address your insecurities. Being with someone who is (potentially) more intelligent than you could be a wonderful experience. Imagine being challenged. I'm sure you bring lots of other things to the table, and you're clearly still intelligent enough...
anyway. my point is it seems more about insecurity than intelligence.

Aaagh...OP you can't be serious.
IMO, there would be nothing better than a relationship with an intelligent woman. In fact it's the most important factor for me. I would imagine great times, learning new things and being inspired to seek out things I had never thought to focus on. Watching Jeopardy together would be great too...and, trivia nights at the pub - we'd be unstoppable!
Well, maybe I should offer the OP thanks. Apparently there's now a highly intelligent woman on the market.
Ironic karma

your supposed to be impressed with the person your seeing and think highly of them. not "oh they're a little dumb" but "oh they're quite smart".
