I don't think youth are lazy...I just think they are too picky.

Most jobs are not very glamorous ...they are stressful or dirty or devoid of interaction with the opposite sex or "politically incorrect" but previous generations did them to make a buck so they could buy stuff they wanted. Not sure what kinds of things young people want to buy these days....a Smartphone and a Compass card?

At 17 I had already been kicked out into the world; I used to like wasting my money on rent, food, and other things like a pair of shoes.
Sad how out of touch with the reality of 2016 for young people this poster is. Presumably they all live in nice bedrooms paid for by Mom+Dad.
What is your point?

1. I have a smartphone which was free with my cellphone contract.
2. A compass card is $6. Transit fare is transit fare. Are you actually denigrating people for wanting to pay their transit fare?

@anonymous - presumably you're a dick for that comment at the end.
And OP - I can see what you're saying, you make a good point... but there were definitely a lot of jobs that existed back in those days that no longer exist today. There certainly isn't enough so called new age jobs these days to balance things out either, we see that with the lack of jobs for people with good educations.
We shouldn't be blaming people all the time or so eager to point the finger.

Well your cellphone does have a monthly bill.
But I would say young people spend most of their money on booze, rent and food.

How much was your income in relation to your cost of living as a young person? All we have are the devices to cheer us up.
