I used to spend hours in Record stores.

And every time I went to a new city I would go find the best record store...and they used to be filled with young people working and having fun and being part of a big community of music and live music. Now people live life online and complain about the lack of jobs for youth...go figure.

So true. I'm an old dude now, but back in the day we had so many different record stores to shop at. Back then, there would be "domestic records stores" and there would be "import record stores".
My point being, selling records was such a fruitful business you could actually open up a business that didn't even cater to Top 40 music. Those were the days, now everything sucks.
Yes.

I agree with your statement. Same with video stores too. There is ONLY one video store chain open now. There are a few record stores (Dandelion, Zulu, Neptune, one more on the Drive-forget the name now) but I feel the same way.

That was an era that passed. There are plenty of jobs for everyone just a lack of people willing to compromise and take one on the chin in order to advance.

I 'take it on the chin everyday.' I work for fricking peanuts and have been for years. These stereotypes you hold may be true in some cases, but in my case they hurt and further perpetuate the notion that it's admirable that I work so hard for so little. Fuck that. I'm a human who deserves to be treated fairly and not used up as slave labour under the guise of 'paying my dues.'

It's not the youth's fault that they have no jobs. Maybe if they did have jobs they could afford to buy more stuff in stores.... or in this city, put it towards renting a spider and silverfish-infested, mouldy dark box they can 'live' in.

An energized youth does usually create it's own opportunities...the Sixties and that whole movement....New York and The Ramones and Blondie etc...Punk in England...Grunge in Seattle...Even Vancouver had a very vibrant 1990's. If the Youth are hoping for the Boomers or Generation X to help them out they will probably be disappointed.
It all started to go downhill.

Yeah, listening to records really was awesome good fun. Choosing a stereo, having great speakers, the needle and of course wiping the record with that soft brush thing. Sweet!
